Glass production 100 years ago in Barnsley South Yorkshire.
The good old times, closing a bottle with a glass marble...

This short video shows the production of the 'Codd' bottle used for soda. This bottle was produced in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, UK, approximately around 1925. Today bottles are sealed with a closure which goes outside the bottle, for example, either a crown cork or a thread type closure. This particular bottle shown in the video is closed with a glass marble and seal ring inside the bottle. The pressure of the content is pushing the glass marble to the top and with this sealing the content inside the bottle.

Unfortunately, we do not know who made the video all those years ago. It was given to us from somebody with many other things and we were not able to retrace the actual person who made this video. If you think that you recognise the video or you have an idea who could have made the video please contact us.
