Long Island MacArthur Airport conducted a federally mandated emergency response drill involving the coordination of local volunteer and government agency first responder teams who would be expected to provide mutual aid in the event of an emergency incident at the region's only commercial airport. The exercise simulated an incident involving a mock airline jet with passengers. Commissioner of Aviation Teresa Rizzuto, MacArthur Airport Fire Rescue Chief Joseph Marino, other airport personnel, more than a dozen area volunteer fire and ambulance companies, and various government agencies participated in the drill, held every three years.
