During his time working as a firefighter and EMT, FORTIS College nursing student Stephen Downing saw how fragile a human life can be. As a heart transplant recipient himself six years ago, Stephen knows the gift of life firsthand. Stephen visited the family of Michael Cornack, his heart donor, last week to meet Michael's family in Ann Arbor, MI. The families exchanged gifts but one of the things Stephen's wife brought alone was the very best of all. She placed a stethoscope to Stephen's chest so all Michael's loved ones could feel and hear his heartbeat one more time. Stephen graduates from the nursing program at FORTIS College Centerville campus on April 27th and the Cornack family will be attending. The graduation will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at the Trent Arena in Kettering, OH.
