Economics and international affairs professor James Foster was impressed by GW's location from the start. Amid the IMF, the World Bank and the State Department, it really seemed to be the center of everything that he taught about, and he often brings in guest lecturers from those and other entities. But his ambitions go well beyond Foggy Bottom: As the director of GW's Institute for International Economic Policy, Foster's research is focused on not just fixing global poverty, but how to measure it in the first place.
