Ippudo Ramen SM Mega Fashion Hall Megamall Manila Philippines Now Open. Ippudo is regarded as serving the best ramen in Japan if not the world! Ippudo was first started in Fukuoka, Fukuoka by Shigemi Kawahara, the CEO of Chikaranomoto Company. "Ippudo" in direct translation means "one wind hall", and this is named because at the time, there were dark clouds over the Kyushu ramen industry, and the founder CEO Kawahara intended to "blow wind and revolutionise the era".

The first Ippudo restaurant opened in 1985, in the Daimyo District of Chuo Ward, in Fukuoka City. Gradually the number of restaurants expanded from regional areas to the whole of Japan, mainly in the Kanto and Kansai regions.

In 2008 the first overseas restaurant opened in New York City's East Village, while there are plans for another location in Midtown West.2009 saw Ippudo expand into Singapore with a restaurant in the Mandarin Gallery section of the 5-star Mandarin Orchard Singapore hotel, while a second restaurant, Ippudo Tao, was opened in 2010 at UE Square.

The wait is over, Ippudo Ramen has finally opened their first branch in the Philippines on September 10, 2014 as a joint venture between Ippudo Founder Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara and Standard Hospitality Group (SHG) Founder Joey Concepcion known for Yabu House of Katsu restaurants. As compared to other global ramen houses (Hokkaido Santouka, Ikkoryu Fukuoka), Ippudo does not franchise so it was a two year courting process before Shigemi Kawahara was comfortable with SHG in providing the level of commitment to service and quality.

Ippudo Philippines currently initally offers three kinds of ramen:

Shiromaru Motoaji - Hakata Style Ramen featuring Ippudo's original Tonkotsu broth, ultra thin noodles, bean sprouts, pork loin, kikurage and spring onions

Akamaru Shinaji - Ippudo's original Tonkotsu broth enhanced with miso paste and fragrant garlic oil, thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions. It is characterized as a modern style ramen.

Karaka-Men - Ippudo's original Tonkotsu broth enhanced with spicy minced meat, miso paste, frangrant garlic oil, thin wavy noodles, pork belly and spring onions.

Highly recommended are the Akamaru Shinaji and Karaka-Men. Their Chasyu melts in your mouth and Tonkotsu broth is rich and slurpilicious. For appetizers make sure to try their Oroshi Ponzu Gyoza, Ippudo Pork Bun and their Curry Cheese Harumaki.

Our favorite ramen at Ippudo is their original pork broth Spicy Black which will be added to the menu in the near future. Check out our video for Ippudo's Spicy Black Ramen at the link below:
