Frédéric Bonnet created in 2003, with Marc Bigarnet, Obras architectes, based in Paris. A year later he opened Obras Studio in Lyon with Nicolas Foltran and Olivier Malclès. Landscape-type micro-projects and challenges represent the majority of their most recent projects. Whatever the scale of the project, material and landscape are the guidelines of Obras's approach. The mutations of sites magnificently moulded by history, in which nature plays an important role, are opportunities for Obras to define what could be a sustainable development. Frédéric Bonnet teaches at the architecture school of Clermont-Ferrand and at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio. He has been a member of juries for numerous European competitions and has written a selection of articles on architecture, landscape and nature. In 2003, he won the "Prix grand public de l'architecture" for the renovation of the Hôtel Major Martin in Lyon and, in 2005, the "Young urban planners" prize. He also won third prize at the "Europan Implementation Project" for the design and construction of an urban park in Alicante (2003).
