An unremarkable swath of experimental farmland near the University of Saskatchewan is the North American epicentre for breeding and growing the haskap berry. Plant sciences Prof. Bob Bors has been trying to optimize the haskap for 12 years, collecting thousands of samples of wild haskaps across Canada, Japan, Russia and from his horticultural contacts.
