The heart is an organ which beats continuously to behave as a pump for transport of the blood which carries other substances with it.As long as the person lives, the heart works like a pump nonstop. The heart is located in the chest cavity with its lower tip slightly tilted towards the left. The heart is typically the size of a fist. There are four chambers in heart.
The two upper chambers are known as the atria or the atrium and the two lower chambers are known as ventricles. The partition between the chambers helps to avoid mixing up of blood rich in oxygen and the blood which is rich in carbon dioxide. The blood flows from the heart to the lungs and then back to the heart from where it is pumped to the rest of the body.
