A bio-profile of musician, composer and teacher Barbara Harbach (http://www.barbaraharbach.com/) as she premieres her newest work, an opera based on the novel "O Pioneers" by Willa Cather. In an interview with reporter Jim Althoff, Barbara describes what stories inspire her musical compositions. We see the passion for music that drives this fascinating '"woman of note." Barbara Harbach has a large catalog of works, including symphonies, works for chamber ensemble, string orchestra, organ, harpsichord, musicals, choral anthems, film scores, modern ballets, and many arrangements for brass and organ of various Baroque works. She is also involved in the research, editing and publication of manuscripts of eighteenth-century keyboard composers as well as historical and contemporary women composers.
