Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey shared his travels on Twitter as he visited National Night Out events across Philadelphia Tuesday night.
Joe Kaczmarek of the GunCrisis reporting project traveled with Ramsey, making stops on East Oak Lane, Germantown, Mount Airy and other sections of the city, where dozens of events were scheduled.
National Night Out is a community building campaign designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, support local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships -- and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
Last year, more than 37 million people participated in more than 15,000 communities across the U.S.
