Egypt's state prosecutor has indicted ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi for allegedly inciting the murder of protesters. The charges pertain to violence outside the presidential palace in Cairo last December when at least seven people were killed in clashes. More than a dozen other members of the Muslim Brotherhood are to stand trial on the same charges. Morsi has been held at a secret location since he was deposed on 3 July. Morsi's supporters and opponents have since clashed on numerous occasions, resulting in over 100 casualties. Tens of thousands of demonstrators on December 4 had rallied in Cairo to protest what they described as illegal presidential decrees giving Morsi sweeping powers.
