http://www.infolongtermcare.org - long term care plans are a neglected part of retirement planning. For many reasons, we avoid the subject. We deny a fact of aging: at some point, about 60% of us will require long term care. Others mistakenly believe that Medicare or Medicaid will help them. Medicare coverage is limited and Medicaid is for those with great financial need. What about those of us who, though not rich, have assets and who would like to make sure they don't spend all of those assets paying for expensive long term care costs? Many Americans fall into this category, yet have no plan.
Long term care planning is essential. It provides an opportunity to educate yourself to find out if you need the protection long term care insurance offers. Most of us can't go it alone. Planning and education will inform you, then you can decide whether or not you are a good candidate for long term care insurance plans. Knowing is better than ignoring. Ignoring the facts can cause great financial hardship for you and your family.
