How to prepare Joomla 1.0.x for migration to Joomla 1.5.x
• Joomla project has ceased support from the Joomla 1.0 and no flaws will be fixed and there will be no releases as well. So, it is time for the Joomla 1.0 users to upgrade to Joomla 1.5 version.
• As there are a lot of changes in the core functionality of Joomla between the 1.0 to 1.5 version. So, upgrade process is more complicated when upgrading from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 then upgrading to the 1.5 to newer 1.5 versions.
• Firstly you need to find the component of migration on your Joomla 1.0 site.
• This can be found on the following URL: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/pasa...
• On the site, look down the page until you find the migrator.
• Right click and save it. Go to the Joomla 1.0 admin panel.
• Go to installer and click on the component, browse and upload the file we have downloaded.
• Click on continue and scroll down to see the migrator component has been installed.
• Now, beginning the migration process, go to component and click on Migrator.
• Here you will find the migratory page and first we will go to the configuration.
• The only option available is about how many database rows are to b exported at once. The number can be increased to a small extent.
• Click on save configuration and then click on home.
• Now go to the 3rd party information link. This tells about how to migrate any 3rd party extensions along with the joomla core and a separate migratory plugin is required or else the extension will not be migrated.
• Follow the link and install the extension and go back to home.
• The Add 3rd party migrator link can be used to upload the 3rd party migratory plugin.
• Now we will complete the migration. Click on create Migration SQL file.
• By default all the plugins are selected. You can deselect the ones you don't want to export or the ones that cause errors.
• Click start migration. This might takes few minutes. Once it is done click download. Now, save the file to your computer.
• Now, it's time to apply migration file to Joomla 1.5. This can be done in two ways which are explained in the accompanying tutorials.
