During his junior season in 2012, LSU's Class of 2013 football recruit Jeryl Brazil set the Louisiana Division 2 state meet record in winning the 55-meter title at the 2012 LHSAA Division 2 Indoor State Track & Field Championships held at LSU's Carl Maddox Field House. Brazil ran a personal best of 6.25 seconds to break the previous Louisiana Division 2 state meet record of 6.26 set by former LSU two-sport star and Denver Broncos return specialist Trindon Holliday. Brazil's 6.25 clocking was the No. 1-ranked time by a member of the Class of 2013 during the 2012 indoor season, and ranked No. 3 nationally among all high school classifications.
