February 6, 1988 - Dominique Wilkins lost a controversial decision to home crowd favorite Michael Jordan in the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest held in Chicago Stadium. After receiving no lower than a 47 on his previous seven dunks (and two 50's for an off-the-backboard flush and one-handed windmill in the final round), Wilkins received an uncharacteristically low score of 45 for his two-handed windmill finale. Jordan then defeated Wilkins by two points after scoring a 50 on his famed free throw line finish, a dunk Jordan had already completed in the semi-finals and missed once prior to his final round finish.
