This is a terrible example of how monologue can be misused to convey information to the audience. What the scriptwriter totally forgot here is that a person talking has to have a convincing need, in that particular situation, to talk the way he does. We don't reason with ourselves this way in real life. The strongest need in this scene is scriptwriters far to obvious need of getting some of the exposition done.
