Foreign military officials visited the USS George Washington on Tuesday, as joint military drills between the United States and South Korea continue.
The two militaries started a large-scale exercise off the west coast of the peninsula on Sunday, just days after North Korea fired a barrage of missiles at a South Korean island.
The nuclear-powered USS George Washington is participating in the exercises, which run through Wednesday.
South Korea and the United States hold combined exercises every year, but after the sinking of the South Korean warship the Cheonan in March, they agreed to stage a series of large-scale military drills.
The exercises are their third of these extra combined maneuvers, and the second to take place off the west coast where the Cheonan was torpedoed in the Yellow Sea.
