Before Conrad Bain was wet nursing Gary Coleman on "Diff'rent Strokes" he was a spokesman for the War Department unleashing captured commie footage to whoever would watch it. The films that he shows offer a glimpse into the world of the Viet Cong. Their tactics are shown along with weapons and camp life. The Viet Cong were one of the most effective fighting forces that the United States Military fought in the latter half of the twentieth century. The Viet Cong had the advantage of choosing when and where to fight, they had no concern for their own losses and were constantly resupplied by North Vietnam through the Ho Chi Minh trail. They had the support of the Communist Bloc nations. The United States lost the war in Vietnam because of political weakness. The US war machine had unlimited supplies with the resources of the free world but could not defeat forces that were fighting for their own self-determination. The lessons of history were not remembered when the US Marines landed in 1965. The Vietnamese people viewed the US as another colonizer after the French and Japanese. Brave soldiers from the United States died and were wounded fighting a war that the people of the United States did not support. Support your local Vietnam Vet !
