A good bit of Lyudmila's free dance, the first Olympic Ice Dance Gold Medalist. She was an eye-catching, riveting performer and personality (a bit like Bette Midler, but less bawdy). When that third section of Russian tango music came up, they sent chills thru the audience!!! This is the couple that invented the TANGO ROMANTCA!!

Three great compulsory dances grew out of the competition of this period from the late 60's to the mid-70's. Schwomeyer and Sladky's YANKEE POLKA OSP and Angela and Eric Buch's (Germany) Ravensburger Waltz OSP. Some call it the Golden Age of Ice dancing, although I suppose Torvill/Dean fans would call it the GOLDEN-OLDIES days! It was still magnificant to watch it unfold.
