#SongsForSyrians is a music program designed for Syrian refugee children in partnership with S'Cool Sounds, a music non-profit based in New York City. In June 2016, The Syria Fund launched the program with a week of music to our partner school in Azraq, Jordan. Music director and concert musician Nina Stern and Montessori music educator Matilda Giampietro, PhD, shared their innovative approach to the group study of instrumental music and dance with the students and teachers at our partner school using recorders and local percussion.

About The Syria Fund:
The Syria Fund is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping individuals displaced by the Syrian refugee crisis. Our mission is to restore dignity and enrich the lives of Syrian refugees and other vulnerable families by providing critically-needed items and supporting educational programs. Partnering with local organizations, The Syria Fund supports an informal school in Azraq, Jordan, which offers catch-up classes for 105 Syrian refugee children. Thousands of Syrian refugees live in Jordan, outside of the refugee camps. Most are unable to work and many children have missed years of school because of the conflict.
