Ryan Holiday was asked to give a talk on Ego and Stoicism to the University of South Carolina football team.
This is an excerpt from the talk, a longer version will be available soon! In this excerpt, Ryan discusses the value of an inner scorecard, a concept espoused by Warren Buffett. The idea is that any external markers of success, fame, fortune, etc., are not only unpredictable, but are bad ways of gauging ability. Better is to decide what you want to do in terms of things you control and to judge truthfully whether you have achieved those goals or not.
