This is an Illustration of our quotation process from inquiry to invoice for programming off-site at $40/hour with Internet and iPhone support services and on-line video conferencing for a Die & Mold Shop client in PA on demand with extremely fast response time.
3-axis contour milling. No form tools, no sine plates and no 4th or 5th axis requirements. Process performed on a commodity 3-axis vertical machining center with off the shelf high performance carbide tooling readily available from several OEMs. Programmed with the basic GibbsCAM $4,500 Production Milling package importing 2d dxf files and primarily using the swept function for all angular tool paths.
Work holding was a standard Kurt vise with aluminum jaws machined to suite.
Work piece material is carbon steel A36 hot rolled plate 175 to 225 Bhn hardness. (Equivalent to 1018 carbon steel.)
Cutting corners without buried corners at full depth of cuts, fast spindle speeds, and high feed rates.
