Joseph H. "Joe" Simon is an American comic book writer, artist, editor, and publisher. He is the co-creator of Captain America, along with Jack Kirby. Simon created or co-created many important characters in the 1930s-1940s Golden Age of Comic Books and served as the first editor of Timely Comics, the company that would evolve into Marvel Comics. In the late 1940s, Simon and Kirby created the field of romance comics, and were among the earliest pioneers of horror comics. After a financial dispute, Simon went to work with National comics, which would eventually become DC Comics. During that time, he was not partnered with Kirby, until 1959 when they reunited to create for Archie Comics. The legendary Simon graciously spoke with "The Take on Comics" at NY Comic Con, 2 days before his 97th birthday.
