Mary O'Brien, better known as Dusty Springfield, was one of the best and most popular British female singers of the 1960s. "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David was recorded by Dusty at the Olympic Studios in Westminster, London on June 4, 1964 and released as a single on the Philips label on June 26 reaching #3 that summer. The session was arranged and conducted by Ivor Raymonde and included Big Jim Sullivan on guitar and Bobby Graham on drums. Because of the concurrent release of "Wishin' and Hopin'" in the US, "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" was not released in the US until October 1965 and failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100. The song was included on Dusty is the her second album released in the US on the Philips Records label in 1964. It can be found on CD on the Very Best of Dusty Springfield on the Mercury label.
