Actually, Istanbul comes from the Koine Greek phrase "εις την πόλη" (eis tin poli) which means "to the city". Therefor, Istanbul is not a Turkish name; rather, its root is in Greek, just as everything in this world is.

actoually it was not called Byzantine Empire at these times at it's beggining it was called Eastern Roman Empire and after some years averyone called it Hellenic Empire which means (Greek Empire) cause all people speaked greek ,had greek names ,and where the latest generation of greeks from the times of Athens and Sparta ,Mecedonia and all greek cities at Asia
