Punta Tombo is a place near Trelew on the coast of Patagonia in Argentina. It is about 1500 km south of Buenos Aires. Punta Tombo is famous because it has the biggest breeding colony of magelanic penguins in the world. During the year more than 500.000 penguins are in the area. They are the biggest warm water penguins ...and grow to about 45 cm in height. I was there when the young ones were taking their first dips in the ocean. Awesome place!
