Crozono: cracking the security perimeter with drones Pablo Romanos & Sheila Berta - ekoparty 11 (2015) The Wi-Fi technology uses radio frequency technology that provides advantages over other traditional wired technologies. Although wireless technology can provide a highly efficient network, easy to implement and inexpensive, the main obstacle is its security maintaining. In traditional cable topologies, physical access to the transmission medium is limited only to authorized users, however WLANs physical media access can be possible to everyone who is within range of the AP. Nowadays, the WPA security protocol is unable to provide reliable protection against attackers lurking. Much less can the WEP protocol. This work focuses on the development of a software module and a working methodology (framework CROZONO) for penetration testing security perimeters from unconventional mobile devices (drones, robots, remote control prototypes, etc.) that can facilitate access to the physical environment of a wireless network.
