In 1999, the Chinese Communist Party was alarmed at the growth of the movement called Falun Gong, fearing for its own ideological supremacy banned the movement.
Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the hundreds of thousands, they were tortured, murdered, and many disappeared.
Allegations have surfaced that the disappeared were being killed for their organs which were sold for large sums mostly to foreign transplant tourists. 62,000 of these peaceful practitioners were murdered in hospitals across China for their lucrative body parts during the period 2000-2008.
