300: Rise of an Empire

300: Rise of an Empire(originally titled Xerxes and then The Battle of Atermisia) covers the story of another battle which occurred simultaneously with the one depicted in the first film -- which had a great impact on the events we already know.
The movie is set at the same time. The idea is to show another point of view. While that battle from the first 300 is taking place, there were others going on: "It takes place in the same time, you start a little earlier but then you see that it's like a different point of view, a different camera, a different angle. While that battle was happening, the one that you saw in 300, there was another battle happening next to it and you will have a chance to see all of that happening and how they interact."

The movie will cover some of the backstory of Xerxes, and will explain how he became "the God King". During the Battle of Salamis, a female commander from Halicarnassus named Artemisia commanded five ships against the Greeks as an ally of Xerxes. There was no "Battle of Artemisia"; however, there was a battle that preceded the Battle of Salamis called the Battle of Artemisium. Persia lost after Xerxes failed to take Artemisia's strategic advice.
