SMU engineering professor Andrew Quicksall and his graduate students in the Lyle School of Engineering are collecting water from UNHCR refugee camps in Africa and Bangladesh, bringing samples back to SMU for analysis and also training refugee camp workers to test water supplies. The group will develop a database to help UNHCR planners provide safer drinking water in existing and future refugee camps. The research is being funded by the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees and SMU.
