During our time at Furman, Ryan Richardson, Eric Weigel and I kayaked together consistently - we called ourselves the Furman University Kayaking Club (aptly named FUKC). Together we explored some of the Southeast's most pristine river gorges, and Eric and I even got to paddle the Grand Canyon during our senior year spring break.
In 2011, Furman was ranked the "2nd Most Rigorous" University in the country, whatever that means. Basically, Exam Week is the pinnacle of an already packed schedule at school. I was lucky enough to paddle 5 out of 7 days of my final Exam Week (a practically inconceivable possibility), 3 of those times with Eric.
With the next academic year at Furman fast approaching, I'd like to share my final week of paddling at Furman. This is "FUKC: Exam Week!" Rivers in the video include: Jones Gap (Middle Saluda), Chattooga Section III, Reedy River Falls, Green @200%, and the Toxaway.
This video is made in memory of Eric Weigel, my dear friend who lost his life this summer on the North Fork of the Payette River in ID.
This September, Eric was planning to travel to Peru and volunteer on a medical boat on the Amazon River through Project Amazonas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric's name to Project Amazonas through their website: http://www.projectamazonas.org/in-mem...
Music: Scenic Pastures - Archers of Loaf Jammin' - Bob Marley (Chant Down Babylon) The Descent - Bob Mould These artists own the rights to their respective songs. Moreover, I do not claim these songs as original or my own - I just thought they were appropriate in this video where I commemorate a friend's life through our shared experiences.
