Foundress fire ant queens I collected and reared in cloistered nest tubes. The queens lay the eggs and tend the developing young workers. They also lay feeding eggs, which the queens eat and regurgitate to the brood. When the tiny workers (minims) are mature they begin to gather food and help care for their sisters and mother. You can see a worker collecting a dead fruit fly to bring back to the brood pile at the end of the video.
