If modern democracies are to survive, they must understand clan-based cultures. So says Mark S. Weiner, a Rutgers University law professor who received the 2015 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Ideas Improving World Order for his book “The Rule of the Clan.” He explained in a recent interview at UofL why each group needs to understand the other’s legal and political traditions.
