WRECK BAY LAND RIGHTS RAP

t-e-r-r-a terra nullius nearly got Wreck Bay
2-4-6-8-10 this is the story how it all began

Long, long, long, long time ago
There lived a mighty snake in this land, Yo!
He slithered through the mountains and created the land
Then once more, he came to the sand
The land is our mother, we come from this place
Land Rights are important to the whole Koori race

Europeans came to take over the land
They tried to spread from the bush to the sand
They built fences, keep the Kooris away
They sent them out to live at Wreck Bay
When Captain Cook came to this place
They thought he was a goonge cause he had a white face

24' school built at the Bay
That's where all the kids had to stay,
They went to church and were taught how to cook
They also learnt how to read a book
They couldn't speak Aboriginal way
Or learn the traditions of Wreck Bay
They got a white dude to control the black guys
So Wreck Bay couldn't live their lives

In 79' things were moving slow
The people in Wreck said 'we have to go!'
So they hopped in their cars out to Summer Cloud Bay
They blocked it off they were here to stay
They wanted land rights, they wanted them now
So they told the people and they yelled out loud....

In 98 Wreck named it Booderee
Wreck got the rights to the land and the sea
They made a council to talk and discuss
And then they decided to buy a big bus
We must, we must, we must make a stand
We must, we must, we must get our land!

The time has come and we've all moved on
But the things from the past are still not done
We unite, we unite, we unite as one
A brand new friendship has begun
At JB school we're really deadly
Black and White, we're all one family
