I sort of stopped paying attention to ice dance after the retirement of Denkova & Staviyski but it's clear that I missed out. This team is evenly matched, have wonderfully deep edges, skate closely together, and go for very ambitious choreography. Yet in spite of the difficulty, they hit very precise positions and they move with an incredible grace and ease. They had a tough 2008-2009 season but I was excited to see them capture the gold medal at the 2010 Olympics. I haven't been this excited about a team in quite a while. This is their Worlds debut in 2007 and if I'm not mistaken, they placed 6th. In my opinion, this program isn't their best work but it's incredible stuff when you consider how young they were and that this was their first Worlds.
