Dr. Paul Vixie used to be a programmer (cron, bind, rtty, ncap, dnscap) and has contributed to many dns-related RFC documents (1876, 1996, 2136, and so on). he founded and ran several companies (PAIX, MAPS, MIBH, ISC, Farsight) and was a technical executive at others (Abovenet/MFN). he co-invented the RBL and RPZ distributed reputation technologies among others. today his main activity seems to be deleting spam and ranting about things.
