The Rutgers Geoscience Scholars program helps minority high school students learn more about this specific area of science and careers in the field. One of the programs many activities involves learning about and using ground penetrating radar (GPR). In this video, the GPR is being used at the site of a historic Revolutionary War site, Stony Point Battlefield, in an attempt to locate the unmarked graves of soldiers killed in the battle.
The program is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation's Opportunities for Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences (OEDG) Program. The OEDG program is designed to address the fact that certain groups are underrepresented in the geosciences.
