http://www.conservation.org Rather than relying on camoflage which would make it blend in with the seafloor, mimic octopuses evade predators by imitating the shape, pattern, and movements of flatfish. Our scientists are intrigued by this ususually conspicuous defense mechanism and CI-Indonesia's Crissy Huffard has published a paper about this species in "Biological Journal of the Linnean Society", August 2010.
