These are intermediate students practicing their takedowns in a light sparing situation.
This is video of an Adult Kajukenbo class in Tucson Arizona. The students are studying under Sigung Tom Elias. Tom is a 7th degree black belt in the American martial art of Kajukenbo. It's a self-defense system that incorporates the useful takedowns and limb destruction learned from Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.
Kajukenbo is not a ground art. The belief is that in a self-defense situation you do not want to be on the ground. In a fight there is always some friend or brother that is right there to kick you in the back of the head while you are rolling around on the ground. On the other hand takedowns and limb destructions are very useful in a self-defense situation. A broken limb is no longer a weapon, and asphalt can be used as a weapon.
