The Right Reasons ~ Brad Crisp, GlobalMojo

What's your reason for founding a company? Getting rich? Buying stuff? Being in the media? Brad Crisp found his reason in two areas. He saw a good friend with cancer besieged with medical bills. He saw public schools constantly scratching for funding to educate our children. And he decided to build a company to fix it.

GlobalMojo of Redmond, Washington was formed with Brad's background of Internet technology -- "I've been in it all my life" -- and in venture capital. He incubated them company in a VC firm when he saw the opportunity to monetize people's browsing activities. By signing up a database of cooperating organizations, people shop the Internet and their browsing is captured. When a sale is made, GlobalMojo receives a percentage as an affiliate. "I understood online advertising's revenue model and saw the potential", he says. "When you have a scalable user base and an addressable browser market, there's plenty of revenue to go around. So much so, that GlobalMojo donates 25% - 50% of REVENUE (yes, not profit, revenue) to its database.

Brad has some advice for other founders from his VC side: Don't underfund your company. He saw too many companies go under because the founders tried to squeak by rather than mount a meaningful effort.

From their website: GlobalMojo is a community of socially conscious individuals who believe that profits are no fun if they come at the expense of people's health, happiness, or well-being. Our products can make a difference in other's lives, and we don't plan ever on changing that fact. Read on to discover what makes us tick.
