Once told that his downfall from the ad business would be his "bleeding heart," Mike believes that advertising has a greater purpose—that if it can sell cigarettes, alcohol, and fast food to the masses, it can also help people live healthier and happier lives. A former creative adman working for big brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, and Tiger Beer, Mike left the big agency lifestyle in 2009. Partnering with professionals from microfinance, development, and design, he started 17 Triggers, a behavior change lab that focuses on marketing for good causes—like inspiring Cambodians to buy a toilet, or Vietnamese mothers to save for their children's education. At 17 Triggers, he is Creative Director and resident yoga master.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
