Exploitation of animals by circuses thru train-by-pain methods of conditioning, and the subsequent spirit-breaking, fear-inducing result, comprises a substantial portion of the organized, profit-driven cruelty and abuse that exists today. To change a wild animal's natural behavior thru repeated beatings with the bullhook, whip, and electric prod, is animal cruelty in it's basest form. To create the illusion that elephants and other wild animals enjoy performing unnatural acts for public entertainment (and corporate profits), is ethically and morally wrong. We will no longer accept animal cruelty as a cost of doing business. There is no excuse for animal abuse, no matter where it occurs.
