Through its 50-year partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the IAEA works through the Joint FAO/IAEA Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture to stimulate the safe and appropriate use of nuclear technologies in food and agriculture, with the aim of contributing to global food security and sustainable agricultural development. With the support of its laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria, the Joint FAO/IAEA Division works in areas as diverse as livestock production and health, soil and water management, plant mutation breeding, food safety and insect pest control.
