Composed of more than 2,200 still and moving images and designed to provide a visual expression of the complexity and diversity of American life, Glimpses of the U.S.A. served as an introduction the American National Exhibition in Moscow for the 1959 U.S.S.R. - U.S.A. exchange in Sokolniki Park. The images were combined into seven separate 35mm film reels, projected simultaneously onto the 20-by-30-foot screens installed in a 250-foot-diameter geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller. Music composed by Elmer Bernstein.
