Hello CEASD members and all who are planning to go to the CEASD conference! We’ve had a lot of discussion lately, including discussion with the hotel, and we’ve come to an agreement. We will cancel the CEASD conference because of Covid-19, the coronavirus. That virus has impacted so many things – states, schools, many things. So we’ve had a lot of back and forth and determined it was best to cancel. Some of you were wondering whether we should postpone instead, but we decided not to. The next conference will be in Salt Lake City and that will happen. The reason for not postponing is it’s hard to predict what will happen. There may be a first wave, then a second wave, then a third wave and to us for us to try to follow all that is not possible.

For registration you have two choices: One you can leave your registration in place and it will be moved to next year’s conference. Or two, you can request a refund from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and they will work it out with you.

Sponsors: We really appreciate your support! Barbara Raimondo will reach out to each sponsor about this.

This obviously is a sad thing because the CEASD conference is so important for professional development! But we realize in this environment we must adapt. We need to focus on our students and our staff and make sure we’re meeting their health needs as well as their education needs.

Before I close I want to thank Peter Bailey and Pennsylvania School for the Deaf especially Patty McFadden and Joshua Beckman. They are just amazing!  They have such a great team at PSD! I thank them for their hard work. I know this is a disappointment for them but they really have proven what an outstanding school PSD is. I trust that one day they will host in the future.

Thank all of you for watching. Continue to take care of our children and make sure they thrive!
