More on this sub here: http://www.rapidnadion.com/more-milit... (Description below)

We shot a ton of footage during the shakedown cruise of our scratch-built R/C submarine "Virginia." So much video, that we couldn't fit all of it into the "official" shakedown cruise video! For those of you who can't get enough of R/C subs, then, here's an assortment of cut footage and behind-the-scenes shots to enjoy.

If you haven't already, please check out the earlier video ("R/C Fast-Attack Sub 'Virginia' Shakedown") by clicking on the link we've placed in the video. The below information is from that video's description.

This is a 48" scratch-built R/C model of the USS Virginia, lead ship in the Navy's newest class of fast-attack submarine. She is shown on her shakedown cruise, testing systems and diving for the first time.

The model is made from a PVC sewer pipe and custom-formed components. The stern cone, sonar dome, and sail are fashioned from walnut, mahogany, and basswood, respectively. She's driven by a 9.6v electric motor with belt drive, turning one ducted six-bladed propeller.

This cruise took place in a body of salt water. We have experience operating R/C submarines in salt water, and the signal loss problems were not a surprise.

This video was shot with a Casio Exilim FC-150, GoPro Hero HD, and Panasonic Lumix S85. Selected sound files are courtesy http://www.sounddogs.com and http://www.policeinterceptor.com

Special thanks to Jim "Video One" B., for providing some beautiful footage, used throughout this video.
