The Piano Mic System, developed by Earthworks which used all of its know-how on high precision microphone technology, sets a random incidence mic inside the piano especially designed to bring out the optimum sound quality from the diffused sound field.

The company has embarked on a new idea of setting a microphone inside the piano. Because the retractile rods enable the mic to move freely from either a higher string section to a lower string section, the mic can pick up good quality sounds.

With the feature random incidence mic, the sound quality remains superior even when the piano lid is closed. However the sound is more expansive when the lid is open compared to the condensed sound when the lid is closed. When the mic is near to the strings, it can gain a drastically big audio feedback margin and at the same time shuts out the sounds of other instruments surrounding the piano.
