In the Huasteca region of Mexico, the popular folkloric music is a direct descendent of S. XVIII baroque music... the harmonies, the melodies, the virtuoso violins, the intervals, everything sounds very baroque... :) (Even, if you see the picture, at the left, a baroque guitar, at the right, an actual popular "jarana huasteca", quite similar). I'd like to share with you this song: "La Petenera" a huasteco song... I call the Huasteco music: "the mexican popular baroque". Hope you ike it... please! comment it! ;)
