American filmmaker Bill Morrison does not shoot films; he salvages remnants of old footage and edits them to create an entirely 'new' film. He travels the United States searching for archives of old and forgotten films -- whether classical cinema or documentary footage -- and these form the basis of his films. Working with composers who create soundtracks, he weaves together fragments of films to construct powerful and often unexpected narratives.
