Thanks to my good friend Carl Quinn, I was able to turn a 1:48.935 lap in a borrowed Tesla Roadster 1.5, breaking my own production EV track record of 1:50.883 set back in 2011. I got the 1st place production class trophy, but to me I got 2nd... because my friend and former colleague at Tesla, Aaron Bailey, turned a 1:48.917 lap in a Model S Performance Plus. Yes, that's only 0.018s faster, but it IS faster! They put all the Tesla employees in a separate class, but I consider Aaron the overall winner and I got 2nd. My "racer's excuse" can be seen when I exit turn 9 coming into 10 - where you can see a CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! I had to check up just slightly, and take a defensive line through T10. That for sure was worth at LEAST 0.018s. *sigh* Either way, track records were smashed today! :-)
